*The quality of the images did not reproduce very well in this blog.

Photography studio lighting for fine children's portraits.
After attending several workshops with Joseph and Louise Simone from Canada, I decided to give this technique a try. This is a portrait of a beautiful baby a took using a 3 dimensional Type lighting setup.

Foreground - artificial flowers
Middle Ground - Subject and prop rabbit on a chest with green fabric
Background - painted floral muslin

Side Light for main light
Fill Light 2 stops less than normal for more shadow and depth
2 background lights set low out of sight

The dress is rippled to give shadows. I would have liked to have straightened the dress at the bottom better in this shot, but her face was so precious I left it alone.

The background is a painted muslin.
Background Light metered  F-8
Main light on left metered 5-8
Fill light next to camera  F-5.6
Camera set to f-5.6 a 1/125 sec
100 iso
Camera  Nikon D80
Novatron 240  with  1 softbox light and  1 umbrella light
The back ground lights are cheap ac plug in strobes with modeling lights on short stands
