A welcome Test Screen Scene with a clock in OBS is not necessary to have a great show.  For me, especially doing back to back shows with other musicians where time is limited... a test welcome screen approx 3 minutes before showtime gives me confidence that the stream is working without actually showing my live webcam until showtime.
